Biography
Dr. W. Sinkele, D. Min., KCACIII is the founder and executive director of SAPTA (Support for Addictions Prevention and Treatment in Africa), an international NGO based in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Sinkele is a level 3 certified addiction counselor and a master trainer in evidence based substance abuse prevention. He has created two alcohol/drugs/HIV risk reduction community based interventions: one with female sex workers for alcohol risk risk reduction; and another a 12 psycho-educational alcohol/drug/HIV risk reduction group intervention facilitated by trained peer educators. SAPTA has a five-fold focus: 1) substance abuse prevention; 2) substance abuse treatment; 3) substance abuse recovery; 4) training of addiction counselors; and 5) research and advocacy.
